Busy as a bee

I think I finally understand what it means to be a bee. Retirement just doesn't exist for me, and I like it that way. My grandsons are now 8 and 11, and they will be in third and sixth grade this year. It is so hard for me to believe they are so big! I am sure I will be able to share some interesting stories this year.

I hope all of you guys still teaching are enjoying your summer. Noone really gets how much teachers deserve time off more than those who have done it or grandmother bees trying to entertain their grandkids:)

I'm going to go grill some spinach, so I'll back in later:)

Updating my blog

I guess I need to update this blog since I make comments using this name. People probably don't realize that I am Bettyb on TeacherLingo. Anyway, since I retired from teaching, I have reinvented myself as a childbirth educator and substitute teacher. I probably work more now than ever and love it. Watching my grandsons is also just delightful.

Staying busy

I am busier now than I was when I was teaching full time, and I just love it. Since I am subbing, I am able to do other things when I am home instead of grading papers and writing lesson plans. Plus, teaching adults at nights and on weekends is more fun than I ever thought possible. I used to get so nervous when speaking in front of adults. Now it is easy. As a senior citizen, I am finding that life can be a lot of fun. Just going there and trying new things is a blast.:)

Substitute Teaching

After retiring from education, I never thought I would return as a substitute teacher. At first, I doubted my decision. I missed the feeling of belonging to one particular campus and really getting to know my students. Plus, it is more difficult to teach when you don't know the students' names. However, I now find that I really enjoy subbing. I just had to get in the groove.:)
