Substitute Teaching

After retiring from education, I never thought I would return as a substitute teacher. At first, I doubted my decision. I missed the feeling of belonging to one particular campus and really getting to know my students. Plus, it is more difficult to teach when you don't know the students' names. However, I now find that I really enjoy subbing. I just had to get in the groove.:)

  1. Hi Betty,
I spent the last four years subbing in my children's school district and now have a full time teaching position in another school district. I also enjoyed subbing and got to know the teachers and students very well. My permanent job has been really challenging learning the new students and teachers personalities and backgrounds.

What do you miss the most and what do you like best about retirement?
